the underwater collection

Editing underwater images can be challenging since we are dealing with a body of water between our lens and our subject. I created these presets with that in mind. While I am all for embracing the underwater world and the tones it brings, I also strive for images that are moody, punchy and bold.

I use these underwater presets for all my underwater work and edit in ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) on my desktop and also on Lightroom Mobile for those quick personal edits on my phone.

Expect deep but muted blue and turquoise tones and a lot of grain. If you don’t like grain, you can always “turn it off” with one of my 10 Layering Tools that are included in the desktop collection. These presets are meant to be tweaked so that they can suit your image and the way you shoot. Please adjust the exposure slider first and you will see drastic differences with just that one initial adjustment. The temperature and tint will be native to your image so please adjust those sliders as well to suit your personal preference of warmer/cooler tones.

The Underwater Collection presets are .xmp files compatible with Adobe Lightroom Classic / Adobe Lightroom CC 7.3 and above and also Adobe ACR CC & CS6. You must be fluent in these Adobe programs in order to use the presets.

The mobile version of the presets included with the collection is compatible with Lightroom Mobile and are .DNG files.

The Underwater Collection presets were designed to work on images taken in the ocean, pool, lake and any other kind of body of water that has good enough visibility to shoot in.

The Underwater Collection presets will work with most underwater images but not all. It will not save a bad image. The desktop version will work best on RAW images but you can make significant changes on JPEG images as well.
