When I started my photography journey I was so fearful of asking for help. I learned mostly everything I know now by trial and error and by taking risks, trying different things, making discoveries along the way. Sometimes I nailed it right away, but most time I was frustrated and stuck. All because I felt I couldn’t ask for help.
Mentoring sessions are a way of sharing what I have learned in my journey as a photographer and artist so that we can work together to take you and your work to the next level, without you having to go through the same painful and long process I went through. “Next level” can mean different things to different people, so it’s important to know that we will cater to your specific needs and we will address those things that you desire to make better.
Here are some topics we can cover:
Equipment breakdown + useful accessories
Safety in open water
Composition, lighting, movement and shooting in manual mode vs. shutter priority mode
Posing for maternity clients
Note: I edit in ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) but the controls translate directly into Lightroom if you have the latest version of LR Classic CC
How to transfer your editing vision onto your images
How to edit without presets
How to edit with presets by tweaking them to be unique to you
Basic color theory
DIRECTING MATERNITY AND FAMILY CLIENTS
SHOOTING (in-person only, for beginners)
How to use the equipment you have to take the best images possible
Equipment upgrade options based on what you want your images to look like (camera bodies, camera lenses, etc)
Envisioning a shot, composing it and bringing it to life.
2 hours online or in-person mentoring // $500
This mentoring session will be catered to your specific needs as a photographer and what you wish to take away from our time together. We are going to use this time to go over as much information as possible so that you can walk away with very tangible nuggets that you can apply to your work.
6 HOURS ONLINE OR IN-PERSON MENTORING // $1,300
This mentoring package is meant to be broken down into 3 separate 2 hours mentoring sessions where we will address the things. If you’re not local to me, we will have 3 x 2 hours video conferencing sessions. If you’re local to me, you can opt to have a mix of online and in-person sessions or do all of them in-person in Haleiwa on the North Shore.
This one hour mentoring session via video conferencing focuses on editing RAW images and how you can achieve the look and tones you want to create for your images. We will not be copying my editing style, but we will identify the editing elements you want to showcase in your work and work on your RAW images to achieve that look. We will also look at how you can use your favorite presets by customizing and tweaking them so that they become your own by using most of the tool and panels in ACR or Lightroom.
Note: I edit in Adobe Camera Raw and not Lightroom, but we can easily translate the editing panels into LR.
One-on-One Mentoring: All About EDITING VIDEO // $300
This one hour mentoring session via video conferencing focuses on video color correction and how to dynamically put together a short film. We will not be looking at how to create video clips, so you will need to provide your own video clips so we can edit them together. Adobe Premiere Pro is required, as well as a basic understanding on how to use the program.
